 Writing Goals

Oral Roberts University's motto is MAKE NO LITTLE PLANS HERE. As an alumni of ORU's graduate school of education, I felt led to incorporate their motto into my 2015 literary goals.

Matthew 7:7-8 King James Version by Public Domain

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

After talking with God, I knew I needed a clear plan. Then God put in my heart to select four key words to be instrumental in hearing God's instructions for my writing in 2015.

As I jotted down the words BELIEVE, FOCUSED, DETERMINED, and ANOINTED, I realized my concentration on these words would be my ticket for a successful year of writing.

Welcome to 2016

My prayer for you in 2016, is that you walk close to God and take time to be still and hear His voice giving you direction in all that you do. I'm writing to encourage you to spend more time talking with God. Then God will be able to impress on you the many choices He wants you to make this year. 2016 is the year for God's favor on you. Don't miss out!

Welcome 2017

Romans 8:28 King James Version (KJV)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

God creates each of us with a unique personality and the ability to become successful. It's up to us to figure out what we are good at and if we are passionate about our talents. God's purpose for us can often be discovered in our capabilities and our interests. Is there something you often think about and desperately want to do? Are you frustrated or angry because you don't have the time or means to do it? This just might be one of your passions!

I became excited about writing back in fifth grade when our class learned to write letters and mail them. Then one day there was a letter addressed to me in our family mailbox. The writing bug had bitten me and soon I was sending letters to pen pals all over the United States. Oh! How fun it was to run up to the top of our big hill, pull open the mailbox, yank out the letters, and run as fast as we could back through our front door. Then jump up and down hollering, "I got mail." Mother would just laugh. Twin sister Caroll seldom got mail. The writing bug never bit her. But we always ran up the hill together. The internet had not been thought of and postage stamps were only four cents. Letter writing became my entertainment. Today I'm an author and loving it.
